Elk Grovepost "Superweek" consisted of pool time and beer drinking (just a little). We have moved up from
the South of Chicago to the north/west of Chicago for Elk Grove. This tour is a 3 day stage race and will have a 7km time
trial on Friday, 155km road race Saturday and a criterium on a 90 minute Sunday. All of the major teams will show up and compete
in the $150k prize purse up for grabs. It's also a NRC (national road series) race and the teams will fight it out for the
points omnium. Bernie and I are totally ready and in form for this weekends racing. After Superweek we just relaxed
and recovered from racing 17 days straight. It was so important to look after ourself as for your system is very run down
and tired, so it would have been easy to get sick. On Monday I will drive back to Atlanta with the
team and fly out to Los Angelas before I head home to Australia for the remaining of the season. I will post a updated race
schedule in next day or so. Until then ciao.

Superweek 2009Another superweek is almost complete and I can't believe a year has passed since I won. The return back to
the US was one of the longest journies of my life. Bernie and I left Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday the 7th of July and
it was a direct flight to Los Angelas. We then had a 7 hour delay in LA before flying to Atlanta where we had our team car
to pick up. We slept for only 5 hours and then drove 1200km upto Chicago which was the day before Superweek started. So you
could say we were not feeling the best and were not very optomistic for the 1st stage. The 1st stage was in a
nice town called Beverly and it was very fast with a little climb on the back side. Bernie and I were feeling not to bad to
our surprise and we made the first break that lapped the field, so not to bad. With 15 laps to go I started to cramp really
bad and I told Bernie that he was the one to win the race and I'll try and help out if I was still there. I have never cramped
so bad in my life and I thought I looked after myself with the traveling process, like drinking water and stretching etc,
but it wasn't enough. I'm happy for Bernie cause he is the one that normally leads me out and he has sacrificed
so much for me throughout the year. So now we won the 1st stage and we have the yellow jersey to defend. Today's
update is that we still have the yellow jersey and no one before has held onto the yellow jersey for the complete tour before,
but we still have it with only 3 days to go! I'm also sitting 3rd overall but still have never won a stage EVER in superweek,
maybe today.....
